Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely! You can upgrade your plans at any time or downgrade by the end of the billing period. When upgrading plans you’ll receive a partial-month refund.
What access will I get?
Each user account grants you access to VT Explorer from a single PC (desktop computer or laptop) and one mobile device (Android or iOS phone or tablet), simultaneously. You can always change the pc/mobile when needed.
What does the free trial include?
The free trial lasts for 7 days following the day of provision. It gives you full access to all functionality provided by the standard license as well as to the entire terrestrial AIS coverage.
How can I start a free 7-day trial?
Please send us an email using our contact form and we will revert with instructions how to set up your trial.
Difference between Global and Europe Inland accounts?
Europe Inland coverage accounts allow you to monitor the ship traffic along the rivers in Europe, while Global coverage accounts provide monitoring of all ship traffic worldwide. All other features are same to both types of accounts.
How often are vessel positions updated?
Terrestrial AIS stations receive the positions of all vessels equipped with AIS transponders within the range of VHF propagation (20-50 nautical miles). VT Explorer displays every AIS-transmitted position with a minimum latency.
Why can’t I find the vessel I’m looking for?
There can be a number of reasons why you may not see a vessel: vessel sailing in an area with poor or no coverage; switched off vessel’s AIS transponder; weaker AIS signal; crowded out signal while sailing in a busy area.
